In a world where we are constantly bombarded with images of perfection and success, it can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. We see the highlight reel of people's lives on social media and assume that they have it all together, but we don't see the struggles and hardships that they may be going through behind the scenes. One of the most important things we can do in this world is to be kind to one another. A simple hello or a smile can make a huge difference in someone's day, and you never know what someone may be going through. It's important to remember that everyone is fighting their own battles and we should always be mindful of that. Recently, I had an experience where I thought I had a supposed friend make a public post about me (without saying my name, but many knew it was about me) and was upset that people came to my event and not theirs. This person even went as far as calling my following a type of "cult" but later changed the wording to worshippers. The damage was already done and I thank God daily for allowing me to see the true intentions of this person. This event was something I was excited about! I traveled 500 miles one way to get there. I was so thankful that people came to my event and supported me. This person rarely talked to me, but I had always supported them and was happy for their success in what makes them happy. I realized that the road goes both ways and that jealousy can be a very destructive force. Remember, a true friend will support and uplift you, not tear you down. Be true to yourself no matter who likes you. I prayed for this person to find kindness and peace in their heart, but ultimately, God showed me their true colors and removed this person from my life. When God removes people from our lives, there is a reason. I choose to be kind and cheer for people because I believe there's enough sunlight for everybody! Always know that you have a friend in me that's cheering you on! So today I hope you choose kindness.
Life may not always be rainbows and skittles, but that doesn't mean we can't choose to be the sunshine in someone else's day. Stay true to yourself and don't let anyone dull your sparkle, even if they're acting like a sour skittle. Remember, a little kindness goes a long way, and you never know who may need it. And don't let anyone's negativity affect you, you're too sweet to be soured by sour skittles.
Love, Angel Leigh
